Role Overview

The Botanist (Landscape Design) will play a key role in conceptualising, detailing,

and documenting landscape and rockscape components across Studio Andem projects.

This role requires a strong foundation in botany and planting design, coupled with solid

drafting skills and the ability to translate ecological knowledge into innovative, buildable

landscape solutions. The candidate will work closely with architects, designers, and site

teams to ensure landscapes are both conceptually strong and technically sound.


Key Responsibilities

Landscape & Planting Design

• Develop landscape concepts, planting strategies, and palettes appropriate to site

conditions and design intent.

• Design innovative landscape and rockscape elements that respond to terrain,

climate, and project context.

• Integrate softscape and hardscape elements cohesively with architectural design.

Drafting & Documentation

• Prepare detailed landscape drawings including layout plans, planting plans,

sections, details, and schedules.

• Develop rockscape, water feature, pathway, and terrain detailing suitable for

execution.

• Ensure drawings clearly communicate dimensions, materials, levels, and

specifications.

Ecological & Technical Input

• Apply botanical and ecological knowledge to plant selection, soil preparation,

drainage, and maintenance considerations.

• Advise on native, adaptive, and sustainable planting strategies.

• Support site teams with technical clarifications during execution.

Coordination & Collaboration

• Coordinate with the architectural, interior, and operations teams to align landscape

intent with overall project vision.

• Work with vendors, nurseries, and contractors for plant sourcing and execution

feasibility.

• Participate in internal design reviews and project discussions.

Research, Innovation & Learning

• Conduct research on plants, materials, and landscape precedents.

• Explore innovative landscape, rockscape, and ecological design approaches.

• Stay updated on landscape trends, sustainable practices, and regional planting

knowledge.



Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Botany, Landscape Architecture, Environmental

Science, or a related field.

• 0-1 years of relevant professional experience in landscape design and/or

landscaping projects.

Required Competencies

• Strong knowledge of plants, planting design, and landscape ecology.

• Proven ability to design innovative landscapes and rockscapes.

• Strong drafting and detailing skills (AutoCAD mandatory; others as applicable).

• Good understanding of landscape execution and site conditions.

• Ability to translate ecological intent into clear, buildable drawings.

• Good communication and coordination skills.

Work Location & Mobility

• Base office location: Kochi, Kerala.

• Must be willing to travel to site locations as required by project needs.
