Job Title: Finance Associate – Australian Taxation
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Associate with strong expertise in Australian taxation laws and compliance frameworks. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and providing advisory support to corporate and individual clients. This role requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the capability to interpret complex tax regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tax Compliance & Reporting
Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS), Income Tax Returns, and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) filings
Ensure compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulations and deadlines
Handle GST reconciliations and PAYG withholding obligations
Support clients in managing ATO audits and queries
Maintain accurate tax records and ensure timely reporting of liabilities
2. Accounting & Financial Reporting
Prepare and analyse financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Maintain accurate books of accounts and support month-end closing
Ensure compliance with IFRS / Ind AS standards
3. Financial Analysis & Support
Prepare management reports and financial insights
Conduct variance analysis and recommend improvements
Collaborate with auditors and senior accountants for compliance reviews
4. Client Management
Communicate directly with Australian clients to understand requirements
Manage deliverables, timelines, and expectations effectively
Provide basic tax advisory support and financial insights
5. Process Improvement
Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency in accounting workflows
Stay updated on changes in Australian taxation laws and communicate impacts
Contribute to continuous improvement in financial processes and systems
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of Australian taxation (GST, FBT, CGT, BAS, PAYG)
Expertise in accounting and reporting principles
Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Zoho Books
Advanced skills in MS Excel and Google Sheets
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA / ACCA (preferred)
1–2 years of experience in Australian taxation and compliance
Experience working with Australian clients or accounting firms is an advantage
